Heavenly Helper!
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!
Our lives are cluttered with rule books, but the authors never come with us to help us follow the rules. But God does. That is the uniqueness of our Bible. God not only provides the rules and guidelines, but comes with us personally each day to strengthen us so that we can live according to those rules. All we must do is invite him and respond to his direction.
Clean out your ears.
27 ”But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.29 To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunict either.30 Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
The key part to this passage, I believe, is “But I say to you who hear”. How is our hearing lately. John 10:27 says that His sheep hear His voice. Are we listening up to the voice of God? God speaks very clearly to us, but if we are not putting ourselves in a postion to hear, we can miss the most important words that can ever be spoke in our lives.
Lord help me today to focus on Your Word and Your voice so I don;t miss what you want to say to me. Your Words are life, and the life You give is the only life I want!

Pressing into God.
Luke 5:1 (ESV) - On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.
Do we press into God like to crowds did in order to hear the word of God? There was a simplistic desperation that these people had. They were willing to travel long and far just to hear the word of God. Am I that desperate, will to do whatever it takes to hear the word of God, or has the convenience of life taken that desperation away?
Help me Lord to become desperate for you once again!
God has given us the power to call things. He has given us the power to create with our words. Proverbs 18:21 says that the power of life and death are in the tongue. We must use our words to create life and frame our destiny.
Everyone has been created with the ability to reach out beyond his own grasp. But it is God who draws me, and my relationship to Him in the first place is an inner, personal one, not an intellectual one. I come into the relationship through the miracle of God and through my own will to believe.
